Welcome, I’m Richard

I’m a BACP-registered integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering warm, confidential therapy for adults, young people, and families. Whether you’re facing anxiety, burnout, low self-esteem, or family and relationship struggles—therapy can help you find steadier ground.

I specialise in supporting people who are new to therapy—especially men, working professionals, and neurodivergent clients—who want real, down-to-earth support without judgment.

Sessions are available online (flexible evening appointments) or face-to-face in Skipton and Aire/Worth Valley.

What Support I Offer

Life isn’t always straightforward—and you don’t need to go through it alone. I help clients work through a wide range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety, panic, and persistent stress

  • Depression, low mood, or feeling stuck

  • Grief, bereavement, or life transitions

  • Workplace stress, burnout, or conflict

  • Relationship and family difficulties

  • Trauma and recovery from difficult experiences

  • Exploring identity, neurodiversity, gender or sexuality

Whatever you’re facing, therapy is a place to feel heard, understood, and supported to make meaningful change.

Why Clients Choose to Work With Me

Relatable and Down-to-Earth

Clients tell me how easy I am to talk to—even if they were nervous at first. I bring empathy, clarity, and practical insight to help you feel comfortable and make real progress, at your pace.

Therapist with Life Experience

Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 20 years in senior HR roles. I understand workplace challenges, interpersonal dynamics, and how tough it can be to balance professional and personal life.

Specialist Support for Neurodiversity & Trauma

As someone with lived experience of neurodiversity, I offer affirming, flexible support for ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or sensory processing challenges—diagnosed or self-identified.

Integrated, Adaptive Approach

I draw from person-centred, psychodynamic, and behavioural approaches—tailoring each session to suit you, whether that’s exploring the past or learning tools for the present.

Flexible & Accessible

Evening online sessions for busy professionals. In-person sessions in Skipton. Many clients choose a mix of both to suit their needs and budget.

Getting Started Is Simple

Taking the first step doesn’t have to be overwhelming. I offer a free 15-minute consultation—online or by phone—so you can ask questions, talk through what’s on your mind, and see if therapy with me feels like a good fit.

You can continue with weekly sessions at your pace—online (£55) or face-to-face in Skipton (£65). Some clients begin weekly in-person, then move to online or fortnightly once they feel more settled.
